Lookndownthebarrel is a 4 year old 15.2 hand chestnut bucket of love. This sweet boys’ new foster mom has decided to call him “Woodford” aka “Woody” around the barn. We think it fits him perfectly.
Many of our CANTER volunteers were on hand to watch his last race at Charles Town Races, where Woody led the field until the final turn. He decided that fourth place would be a better place to be when they crossed the finish line.
Woody could have dropped down in class, or even raced in the same class again, but his most fantastic owner and trainer decided a new life would be better for him. And so began his life with CANTER.
Woody stayed at our CANTER farm for just about a month. He took to turnout fairly well, and learned to get along with other ponies. He’s been nothing but sweet, which makes life a little bit easier when we start retraining.
I can hardly believe that I have come across Lookndownthebarrel! We had him as a 3-year-old at Turfway Park as a racehorse. We called him Harry because he was so mischievious and full of himself, but when it came time to train, he was all business. Unfortunately, the owner decided Saratoga was a better place for him, and as it turned out, was not because he ended up at Charles Town. We think of him all the time and really miss him. I am glad that he has found a good place and, hopefully, someone who loves him as much as we do.
